The Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP) provides long term care insurance for enrollees who are federal employees, USPS employees and active and retired members of the uniformed services and their qualified relatives. It is sponsored by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and was introduced in 2002 by Long Term Care Partners LLC, a joint venture of MetLife and John Hancock. Since 2009, John Hancock is the sole sponsor of Long Term Care Partners. The FLTCIP was specially designed to meet the needs of the federal family. The features and benefits are monitored by OPM and is on its second version. Qualified applicants are underwritten in a manner similar to LTC insurance sold to individuals by John Hancock and others. Go to the website for the program to find extensive information.
