In order to qualify to get a Long Term Care Insurance policy, you must fill out an application and take an exam. The application goes to underwriting where it is determined if your health is good enough to get approved. If it is, you are issued a LTC policy.

Some health conditions that would cause a decline are AIDS, ALS, Alzheimers, dementia, kidney failure, liver cirrhosis, and Parkinsons. Certain mood disorders, moderate to severe arthritis, MS, advanced diabetes and/or heart disease, stroke, and other conditions that can lead to inability to care for one's self are also potential hindrances to qualifying for Long Term Care Insurance.

To find out whether you qualify for Long Term Care Insurance, call or visit an agent that carries several LTC choices and answer all their questions. It is much easier to find out ahead of time if you cannot qualify, than it is to be declined later. This way you can also get the policy that has your best price if you do qualify.
