Will My Homeowners Insurance Cover Foundation Problems?
- 22 POINTSview profileDan BeukelmanCSR, American Family Insurance,If your foundation is damaged by a covered peril, then it would be taken care of by the home insurance (so if a house fire causes damage to your foundation you would be fine) since the foundation is part of the house. However, home insurance policies exclude damage by flood and hydrostatic pressure, so if your "foundation problems" are due to the pressure of water, or shifting ground there would not be coverage. If the concrete is simply no good, that is also excluded since it is caused by a slow degradation, not a sudden and accidental occurence. It's hard to answer your question without more info.
