What License Do I Need To Sell Disability Insurance?
- 63333 POINTSview profilePeggy MaceMost of the U.S.The license you need to sell Disability Insurance is a Health Insurance license. Disability Insurance is a morbidity product rather than a mortality product, as is Life Insurance. Underwriting is based on the number of people with illnesses in a segment of the population, as is the underwriting for Health Insurance.Answered on October 9, 2013flag this answer

However, something just to consider, go ahead and get both your life and health insurance license. You will find that most clients in need of disability also will need life insurance and vice versa. Also, some states will not grant you reciprocity unless you have both your life and health license. You may wish to cross license in other states as you grow your practice and this will become an issue. It really doesn't cost much more or take too much more of your time to carry both license together. Good luck!Answered on December 18, 2015flag this answer
