    Most of the U.S.
    Short term disability insurance purchased on an individual basis (not as a group policy) does not cover time off from work due to normal maternity or childbirth. If there are complications in the pregnancy, during childbirth, or postpartum, a private short term disability might qualify you to collect a benefit.
