    If you are pregnant, it is usually impossible to purchase Disability Insurance that will cover your pregnancy, in California or any other state. Sometimes you can purchase Disability Insurance that will exclude your current pregnancy. California does have government sponsored DI for persons not working for the State, but again, you must get it before you are pregnant.

    There is a pretty good chance that you already have coverage through the state. Private workers are automatically enrolled in the program. Check your pay stubs to see if deductions for SDI (State Disability Insurance) have been withheld. If so contact the Employment Development Division for help in filing your claim.
