If you have an accident related to a DWI your policy will provide coverage however most companies will cancel the policy at renewal. There are companies who insure drivers with DWI's but the premium is a lot higher. Some states also require an electronic filing to make sure you have insurance. For example, in Virginia, if a driver gets a DWI you have to file an FR44 and your liability coverage has to be at least $50,000 / $100,000 / $40,000.

If you mean does auto insurance pay for a claim when you had an accident and were charged with a DUI, the answer is yes. I have seen some companies however exclude paying a claim if the DUI was considered a felony. This is usually not the case and the claim is paid. I would say this is about the only silver lining of what comes to follow by a DUI.
