   Current interest rates for deferred annuities vary, but the leading 5 year guaranteed interest rate is around 2.95%, the 10 year rate is 3.25%. The 35 basis point spread for twice the holding period isn't enough to tie up your money for that length of time, especially during times of rising rates. Rate changes occur often, so  always check the latest rats at an annuity brokerage shop for a listing of annuity rates.
