People with HIV can get life insurance although you will fall into a guaranteed issue situation.

Insurance companies are all about how long you are expected to live.  Unfortunately HIV reduces the mortality.  Most insurance companies will not underwrite these people.

Companies that offer a guaranteed issue or perhaps a graded benefit will look at giving you some life insurance however the death benefit available is limited.

Unfortunately, people with HIV have a very hard time getting life insurance. Even if they have had no symptoms and have lived for many years being HIV positive, they are put into the same category as those who have the final stage of HIV infection, which is AIDS.

If age 40 or over, there are guaranteed issue policies that can be purchased by persons with HIV.  Younger people might want to look to credit unions or other sources that offer low face amount policies with no health questions, as a perk for signing up.

Can people with HIV get life insurance?  In the traditional sense? no. Some states allow for guaranteed issue or graded policies to be sold. These type of policies will be priced much higher than traditional life insurance, but if one path is closed, another opens up and any person with serious health conditions should weigh out the cost to the benefit of having life insurance.
