You should have a renters insurance policy anytime you are putting your belongings in a place that belongs to someone else, especially if it will be difficult for you to replace those belongings, should they be damaged or destroyed. It is a common mistake to believe that the landlords insurance would cover you if something were to happen. Unfortunately, that is not the case. It is a good idea to get a policy.
