To quote renters insurance an agent or broker needs several pieces of data from you.  Contact an agency or brokerage and ask them what specific information is needed for them to provide a quote. They should be able to fax or email you a questionnaire or    one may be available at their website.  Once you get them the data they need, they can start on a quote. Remember, if you buy online direct from an insurance carrier you are acting as your own broker. If you know enough about insurance, go for it.    But be advised that dealing with a competent agent or broker will get you the best policy available for your specific situation and needs.

If you have an existing agent, contact that person.  They will guide you through the process.  If you do not, ask other people who are established in the community for recommendations.  When you select an agent, make sure that they report everything to you and the company accurately.  The company relies upon accurate information to price the policy and can use that same information to adjust a claim.
