Personal property is covered "any where in the world" however most policies limit coverage to 10% when the loss occurs away from your residence. For example, say your luggage is stolen while traveling and you have Renters insurance with contents coverage up to $50,000. You would have coverage for $5,000 in this particular case.Answered on May 14, 2014flag this answer

Now, most policies will cover your belongings up to a certain total percentage of your current Personal Property stated amount. So, for example, if you have $50,000 stated coverage in your policy, you may have coverage up to 10% while travelling. Likewise there may be certain "inside limits" for categories of property such as camera equipment that may further limit the amount of coverage that you actually have.Answered on May 14, 2014flag this answer
