Does Renters Insurance Cover Hotel Expenses?
- 37376 POINTSview profileDavid G. Pipes, CLU®, RICP®Business Development Officer, T.D. McNeil Insurance Services, Fresno, CaliforniaIf you are unable to live in the unit that you rented because of damage caused by a named peril (i.e. fire) your renter’s policy should provide for “additional living” expenses. This would be the additional expense of temporarily living somewhere else while the unit is being repaired. If that is a hotel, then the hotel expense would be reimbursed to the extent that it exceeds your regular rent. This would be negotiated with the claims adjuster.Answered on June 2, 2014flag this answer
