Does Renters Insurance Cover Electrical Damage?
- 37376 POINTSview profileDavid G. Pipes, CLU®, RICP®Business Development Officer, T.D. McNeil Insurance Services, Fresno, CaliforniaIf electrical equipment inside your unit is damaged as a result of a power surge or interruption that originates outside the unit, that damage is specifically excluded. If there is a fire that causes electrical damage, that damage would be covered. If an electrical appliance inside the unit catches fire and damages part of the unit or your personal property, that would probably be covered.Answered on May 7, 2014flag this answer
