If you are renting a property (your the tenant) and a pipe bursts damaging your personal belongs then your personal belongings would be covered under water damage by your renters policy. Also if the water damage made your home temporarily un-livable you should also be covered for loss of use by your renters policy. Your are not responsible for the pipe itself. This is the duty of the landlord to repair.
