Does Renters Insurance Cover Animal Attacks?
- 400 POINTSview profileZachary WrightOwner, Wright Insurance Agency, Great Pittsburgh AreaIt depends on the company, but generally yes. However, most companies will have a list of dogs commonly called "vicious animal / dog" clause that either won't provide liability coverage or excludes coverage for people with that type of animal. A lot of types a person that has a dog like that you won't be able to get coverage, but it really depends. The best thing to do would to call your agent and have them explain exactly what the policy covers.Answered on April 9, 2013flag this answer

Dog bite is very common in home and renters insurance claims. You have to remember if this happens again the insurance compay may send you a non renewal based on the exposure. Also there are certain dogs an insurance company will not take if you own when you started the policy. If you did not disclose your breed of dog this could be seen as misrepresentation and the claim may not be paid.Answered on June 20, 2013flag this answer
