A landlord may require you to get renters insurance as part of the rental or lease agreement/contract that you sign when you rent a premise from them. A renter should not fear the cost of renters insurance as it is fairly inexpensive in many cases. Not to mention that it provides some personal liability, personal property, and typically some loss of use coverage.
