Medicare Part B will pay for an electric wheelchair if all the following exist:
1) Your wheelchair must be medically necessary and your doctor must order it after a face to face evaluation with you to determine/explain that need.
2) You must be able to safely operate an electric wheelchair and get on and off of it safely (either by yourself or have someone there to assist you)
3) You must be unable to do one or more Activities of Daily Living without it and a less costly assistive device will not enable you to dot that ADL(s).
4) You must have the type of home that accommodates use of an electric wheelchair.
