Why Is Alprazolam Not Covered By Medicare?
- 1450 POINTSview profileFred AdamsThe HSA Expert, Health Revival, Athens, GAFor the most part, Medicare only covers prescriptions when one is hospitalized, under Part A. Some types of medications, such a certain cancer treatments, can also be covered under Medicare Part B, though most drugs one takes outside of a hospital are only covered if you have added Medicare Part D prescription coverage through a private insurance company. In such a case, this medication could be covered, as long as it appears on your company's formulary list of covered medications, as the drug is considered to be medically necessary.Answered on May 14, 2014flag this answer
