- 15786 POINTSContact Meview profileBob VineyardPROFounder, Georgia Medicare Plans, Atlanta,GAIf you are satisfied with original Medicare and a Medigap plan, you don't need an Advantage plan. Original Medicare and a supplement plan allows you to use any doctor or hospital anywhere in the US without incurring out of network penalties. Your out of pocket expenses are capped so you know what your risk exposure is.Answered on May 30, 2013+01 0+1 this answerflag this answerview more answers by Bob Vineyard

Pretty much everything you need in health insurance. The alternatives in order to get everything covered is to buy Medicare part B and Medicare part D, then some kind of medi gap plan that will cover your deductibles and co-pays. Of course with Medicare Advantage you may want to get a gap plan as well, but generally Advantage is less costly than buying Parts B and D.Answered on June 30, 2015flag this answer
