"Best" is a subjective decision at best. Each individual should decide for themselves which Medicare supplement plan (Medigap) is best for their needs and budget.

Older people and those who use tobacco will pay a higher rate than those who are 65 and do not use tobacco.

The most expensive Medigap plan is plan F. It is also the one most agents push because it is easiest to explain and pays them the highest commission.

If you are looking for the best overall value, find an agent that puts YOUR needs ahead of their own and takes the time to show different plans through multiple carriers.

The best plan is one that fits your incdividual needs and budget. Medicare supplement plan F offers the most coverage however it is obviously the most expensive. Since Medicare Supplements are standardized by the government there are no differences in the plans except for premium. But don't let premium be your onl;y deciding factor. I have seen companies go into a State with very low rates only to increase those rates by as high as 30 to 50 % withing a year. Also most plans are attained age rated meaning that you will get a rate increase each year just because you got older. These plans are less expensive in the younger years but when you get older they can become unaffordable. A good agent will explain your options based upon your health, finances, and travel habits. That is why I recommend finding a good local agent with experience in the senior insurance market with a good reputation. There are too many agents out there looking to just make a commission. Buying insurance over the internet is risky because you may not know all the information a good agent may have.
