The cost of a Medicare Supplement plan (also commonly known as a Medigap plan) can vary widely around the country.

The premiums for a person's plan are based on a number of factors including the type of plan he/she is applying for (A, B, C, D, F, Hi-F, G, K, L, M, N, or a SELECT plan), their zip code (where you live is a critical factor), whether you use tobacco products, if you're male or female, and your medical history (if subject to medical underwriting - not applicable if applying during initial open enrollment period or if you have a guaranteed-issue right). If you're subject to medical underwriting, you may be subject to a level 1 or level 2 rate for many carriers.

Plan F is the most popular Medicare supplement that people buy.

In general, you can expect plans F and G to be the most expensive in your area because they provide the most comprehensive benefits. Plan N can be very competitive with F and G (plan N is a great option for those who's doctors accept assignment).
