   To be Medicare certified means that a provider of Medicare services has been approved and certified by Medicare, so thus are able to be reimbursed by Medicare for providing eligible services. They are able to become certified by applying for a National Provider Number (NPN) and for Medicare certification though a local Medicare carrier.
