What Are Medigap Policies?
- 21750 POINTSview profileJim WinklerCEO/Owner, Winkler Financial Group, Houston, TexasThat is an excellent question! There is a "gap" between what your Medicare coverage pays for, and what the provider charges for the treatment. That difference, along with your co-pays and deductibles are what you have to come up with. For many folks, that amount is too much. So insurers offer Medigap plans, or supplemental insurance plans, to help fill in that "gap". The good part is that the plans provide a stable, easily accepted way to help cut your costs; the bad part is that there are many to choose from, and it can be very difficult to find the one that will work best for you. It is important that you work with your health care professional to get what is best for you. Thanks for asking!Answered on June 6, 2014flag this answer
