Every Medicare Beneficiary gets a 6 month period when you are allowed to buy any Medigap Plan that's sold in your state. This Open Enrollment Period starts in the first month your'e covered under Medicare Part B, AND you're 65 or older. This Open Enrollment Period is only available one time. It's a great opportunity to get a Medigap Plan during this time because you can't be denied a Policy due to current or past health conditions.

If you've been on Medicare Part B for more than 6 months, then you are out of the initial Open Enrollment Period. However, you CAN still apply for a Medigap Plan -- you'll just have to answer the health questions on the application.

If you already have Medigap coverage and want to switch Medigap Plans, you can apply for a new Plan any time of the year.

Since there are many moving parts to Medicare, you may benefit from speaking with an agent who specializes in Medicare Supplement insurance. I am happy to help you with your specific situation.

There is Open Enrollment for Medicare Supplements (Medigap). When you first activate your Medicare Part B at age 65 or older you will have six months to enroll in any Medicare Supplement Plan offered in your state without having to answer any health questions. Your acceptance is guaranteed and pre-existing health conditions are covered immediately.
