I am having a hard time finding a definitive answer to this question. It appears that Medicare can replace a Cpap machine every 5 years, but it is not clear whether there has to be justification for it (i.e. a new model would more effectively treat the sleep apnea, etc). If a Cpap machine is replaced, it is called a restart, and the machine is rented for the first year before becoming the property of the Cpap user.
