    For most individuals, there is no charge for Medicare Part A. If you had at least 10 years of Social Security wages (40 quarters), are a US citizen or legal resident and have lived in the US for 5 years, there is no charge for Part A. If you do not qualify for "free" Part A you will pay a premium of $441 monthly (2013).
