Medicare does indeed pay for dialysis. But subject to limitations.

If you qualify for Medicare based on ESRD your dialysis treatment begins on the 1st day of the 4th month after your Medicare benefits begin.

You may qualify for coverage earlier if you complete a dialysis training class for in home treatment.

Medicare will pay for kidney dialysis under Medicare Part B. Medicare only covers 80% of your dialysis treatment so it would be very important to have a Medicare Supplement policy to pay the other 20%. Your cost for the other 20% if you don't have a Supplement would be very expensive and most people would not be able to afford it. If you are already on Medicare prior to going on dialysis and you don't have a Medicare Supplement it would be virtually impossible to find a company to offer you coverage.
