Does Medicare Part B Cover DME?
- 805 POINTSview profileBenjamin ThorntonInsurance Broker, Arlington, MassachusettsYes, Medicare Part B covers durable medical equipment (DME). This includes wheelchairs, nebulizers, blood glucose monitors, hospital style beds and more. For them to cover it, you need a valid prescription from the doctor which includes your name, date of birth, address, the type of DME that you need, the duration of time you will need it for, and a diagnosis code for the condition it is treating. With that prescription, any medical supply store that is contracted with Medicare will be able to provide the equipment.Answered on March 4, 2014flag this answer
