- 63333 POINTSview profilePeggy MaceMost of the U.S.In order for compounded drugs to be covered by Medicare Part D, they must be prescribed for a "medically accepted indication", they must have at least one ingredient that is FDA approved, and at least one ingredient must be covered by Medicare Part D. Only that FDA approved ingredient and the fees for mixing the drug are covered by Medicare. Bulk powders are not covered.Answered on September 12, 2013flag this answer
