Does Medicare Supplement Insurance Cover Long Term Care?
- 63333 POINTSview profilePeggy MaceMost of the U.S.No, Medicare supplement plans do not cover Long Term Care expenses. You can get up to 20 "free" days in a skilled nursing facility with Medicare Part A, if your stay qualifies by virtue of having been hospitalized for at least three consecutive days for the condition that causes the need for the care. After that, you will pay part of the cost of your stay for up to another 80 days. After that, Medicare does not pay for skilled nursing care, except for the normal Medicare benefits you receive via Medicare and your supplement (hospitalizations, doctor visits, etc).Answered on September 5, 2013flag this answer
