Does Long Term Care Insurance Cover Independent Living?
- 0 POINTSContact Meview profileDavid RacichPROFountain Hills, ArizonaLong term care insurance will help any out of pocket expenses accrued at any of the care facilities, but it can cover the cost for in-home care around the clock for seven days a week as well. For most long term care insurance, you can use your benefits when you can no longer perform the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Policy deductibles and waiting periods will affect when you can begin benefit coverage.Answered on June 13, 2013+01 0+1 this answerflag this answerview more answers by David Racich

Most LTC policies that pay the institution directly do not cover an independent living residence. However, if the policy pays the person, then someone meeting the triggers (the loss of the of 2 or 3 independent ADL's and/or substantial cognitive/mental impairment) could collect on some policies, even while living at home or in an independent living residence.Answered on June 13, 2013flag this answer
