You can get Long Term Care with some pre-existing conditions, but not all of them. Some types of pre-existing conditions are viewed by long term care underwriters as more apt to need long term care in the future than others. Some of these are stroke, MS, diabetes with side effects, dementia, and rheumatoid arthritis. These can cause a decline. Osteoporosis, depression, and other mild conditions can affect ratings and price.

On the other hand, some pre-existing conditions that can cause a decline for life insurance will not affect long term care insurance at all.

Contact a broker who carries a variety of long term care choices to see if your pre-existing condition will enable you to buy a long term care insurance policy at an affordable price.
