There are fewer carriers today that sell whole life than at any time in recent history. There are 2 suggestions I can make. The first is to purchase from a mutual company, one whose policyholders own the company so that you receive dividends in addition to interest. The second is to use an independent agent with access to more than one carrier so that you can compare illustrations and underwriting.

A whole life insurance policy can be obtained from a licensed insurance agent. If you don’t know an agent that you trust ask your friends, colleagues and neighbors for recommendations. A good agent will listen to you, provide sound financial advice and communicate clearly with you and with the insurance company. He will be able to match your needs with your ability to budget the expense.

That is a great question! There are several companies out there that would be very happy to sell you a whole life policy. I work with seven myself. The best thing to do is look for an independent insurance agent. We don't work for any one specific insurer, and can offer several alternatives to best fit your needs, and budget. Go online and find a couple in your area, and then make appointments to go and see what they will offer you. I hope that helps, thanks for asking!

I would venture to guess that all the life insurance agents answering questions in this forum sell whole life insurance. It is part of a full portfolio of life insurance products including term, universal, and whole life. Each product (and variations thereof) fill niches that the other product cannot fill.

That being said, when you are buying whole life, your agent can help you select the company and product that works best for you. E.g. If you are an older person with pre-existing health conditions, looking for a small policy to pay for your funeral, there are final expense whole life policies that work well for that purpose. If you are buying whole life for your child, some companies have special policies for that purpose.

In that context, you can buy whole life insurance many places, but you should use an experienced agent to help you get the best policy for your purpose.
