Depending on the type and stage of the cancer, and the date and type of the treatment, a cancer survivor can usually get life insurance two years after the last treatment was completed. If the cancer was very mild, and the treatment was complete surgical removal or other effective method, the time could be shorter.

Yes, cancer is certainly not the end of life insurance eligibility. However, time and type of cancer do come into consideration when purchasing life insurance. There are life insurance carriers that will underwriter cancer survivors as soon as two years after your last treatment. It will most likely be for a lower face amount and possibly graduated, meaning the longer you have the plan the higher the face amount will climb. Next time period would be the 5 year cancer free point. Several life insurance companies will underwrite you at a higher face amount but also a rated premium, meaning your rates will be increased for risk. The last time period is the 10 year cancer free mark. Most all life insurance companies will underwrite you and you can qualify for a standard rating again. I wish you the best in your quest for finding life insurance coverage again. Congratulations for beating cancer!
