    "Non-Life Insurance", or "General Insurance", in Europe is the equivalent of "Property and Casualty Insurance" in the United States and Canada. It is insurance that covers loss from a particular financial event. It does not cover a person's life, as life insurance does. Therefore, it is called "non-life" insurance.
