When you are applying for life insurance and they ask you if you have had any illness or been hospitalized and you fail to disclose that information you have failed to disclose a material fact and that means the insurance company has a basis of refusing the future claim and cancelling your policy. If you are going to apply for life insurance yuo need to take a good dose of truth serum and tell the whole truth and nothing but truth or create problems for yourself
Hepatitis C is not tested for on a life insurance exam, per se. However, the blood test used for life insurance exams does test liver function by measuring liver enzymes. A high value for AST, SGOT, ALT, and/or GGT could cause the underwriter to question the presence of hepatitis C. Medical records may need to be ordered, or you might be required to have further testing before being able to obtain a medically underwritten policy.
If you go into the application process knowing you have hepatitis C, be sure to tell your agent so they can find you a policy for which you qualify at the best possible price.
Actually Hepatitis A,B,C is not usually tested for most life cases. However, in larger cases depending on the carrier it certainly can be. I personally have some larger cases pending with one carrier and we felt another carrier would be a bit more affordable. The first carrier did not want a Hep test from blood but the second carrier did. My clients had to be retested (no big deal) because the original blood was over 30 days old and destroyed. There is no one answer fits all to your question.
