It takes around one hour. They come to you. They will ask you some general questions about your health. Then they will check your blood pressure and your height and weight. They will take a blood sample and a urine sample.

Once they have done the physical it usually takes another month or longer to get an offer from the life insurance company.

It's going to depend on your age and the face amount applied for. In most situations 30-45 minutes actually depending on your health. To speed up the process a person should have their doctor's name, address and phone number handy along with the dates and what you were seen for. If you are taking any medications it is also good to have a list of medications, dosage and frequency available.

For older applicants some carriers ask for a resting ECG to be done. With large face amount applications, the insured may be asked to go to a doctors office for a full exam.
NOTE: The cost for these exams are paid by the insurance carrier, the applicant pays nothing.

Also, the examination company is a independent 3rd party and does not represent the insurance company. They are just there to gather information and pass it onto the lab and insurance carrier. They do not speak for the insurance company and can't really tell you what is good or bad during your exam, as good or bad actually may be different between carriers.
