    The military does provide life insurance through the Servicemembers Group Life Insurance (SGLI). Servicemembers are automatically enrolled for $400,000 of Term coverage and are charged group rates as determined by the VA. If the whole amount is not desired, it can be reduced by increments of $50,000 or turned down altogether.
