Your employer should not have insurance on you without your knowledge and consent. There was a case where Wal-Mart was buying policies on all their employees with the company as the beneficiary. This gave them a black eye once this was exposed and they had to stop doing it.
If you are a key employee, they may have a life policy on you but you would have to be aware of it.
IRS code 101(j) requires that all employers have the employee sign a "consent" form for Employer Owned Life Insurance if they want a policy on you.
The only reason they would want a policy on you is if you are a key employee who is "key" to the business succeeding. And even then it is nothing to worry about and perfectly normal.
