Can Morbidly Obese People Get Life Insurance?
- 21750 POINTSview profileJim WinklerCEO/Owner, Winkler Financial Group, Houston, TexasGreat question! Insurance companies do not like risk, and the health issues for someone who is morbidly obese are much greater than those for a normal person. That makes finding a policy a lot tougher than it is for the more normal person. That said, there are companies that will issue "guaranteed issue" policies. These policies ask few if any health questions, and require little more than proof of who you are, and how you will pay. The plus is that you will have insurance, the negative is that these policies can be much more expensive, and will come with a period called a grade, in which the death benefit is reduced, usually to what you've paid in plus some amount of interest. If you'd like help finding one, please feel free to contact me, I'd be happy to help you. Thanks for asking!Answered on May 5, 2014flag this answer

Some simplified issue policies, and all guaranteed issue policies, do not ask any weight questions at all. Those who are under age 50 have the hardest time obtaining coverage while being morbidly obese, but some policies are available. Contact an agency that specializes in overweight life insurance for your quote.Answered on May 5, 2014flag this answer
