Yes, most people can get life insurance after a heart attack. The type, quantity, and price of the life insurance that one can get after a heart attack depends on a number of variables. These include:

The age at which the heart attack occurred (the older, the better, for life insurance purposes).
The severity of the heart attack.
What treatment followed (bypass? stent? etc).
Whether the treatment was successful and there was not recurrence for several years.
If healthy life habits were pursued (e.g. quit smoking, exercise regularly, etc).
    Number of cardiac events.
Ejection fraction of heart, stress test results, and other cardiac tests.

If unable to get a medically underwritten policy, there are some simplified issue policies that simply ask if a heart attack has occurred in the past # of years. Your agent getting a full health history and being able to shop multiple carriers will ensure that you get the best life insurance rate post heart attack.

Times have changed. Post heart attack views on life expectancy have changed over the last decade. There are some items that could disqualify you from securing life insurance, but by and large you should be able to obtain coverage. Well established and managed post cardio therapy can add to the debits on an underwriting balance sheet.
