Homeowner’s insurance protects the owner for damages that come from specified “perils” One peril is fire.  If the home is damaged in a fire and asbestos removal is required to repair the home, it would be considered in the claim.  There is an additional coverage available on a homeowner’s policy that provides additional money if repairs require adjustments to meet building codes.  That coverage would be helpful under these circumstances.  However, removal of asbestos for personal reasons would not be a covered peril.
