Talk to your Insurance Professional about the specific terms and conditions of your policy including the "covered perils'. If your roof is severely enough damaged as a result of a covered peril that the only way to safely secure your home is by replacing the roof, then your claims professional will make that recommendation and will process the claim accordingly subject to your policy deductible.

When there is an occurrence that isn’t expected or intended by the owner to the roof there is probably coverage. This coverage means payment for physical injury to tangible property and this includes the loss of use. Many companies adjust a roof claim by the life of the roof rather than the replacement cost.
