    That is a great question! I hope that it never happens to you, but if it does, you do have options. First I'd see if the company that dropped you will allow you to be reinsured, if you make some changes in the policy - maybe you agree to a higher deductible, or lower coverage, for example. Many times the mortgager will offer an emergency coverage, until you can get another company  to insure you. In the worst case, many States offer a last chance insurance policy, and you can see if your State is one of them. Good luck, and thanks for asking!

    Jim is correct.  Many states have a FAIR plan, which will pretty much insure anyone, but the costs may be higher.  Also, a professional insurance Broker should be able to find you alternative companies.  I have placed many people through insurance companies that specialize in high risk policies, the costs are higher but over time you can earn better rates by keeping a nice looking home and by being claims free.  Shoot me an email with specifics at dbeukel1@amfam.com
