Additional polices would need to be purchased to cover those perils. Other then that the best way to look at a policy in general is to ask yourself. Was the loss sudden and accidental. However, there are usually two specific perils that are excluded from coverage under a Homeowners policy. One exclusion is damage caused by earth movement. These can include things like earth quake, sink hole and the like. This exclusion may be removed by the addition of an endorsement. The other common exclusion is damage causewd by a flood.
