What Does Dwelling Mean In Home Insurance?
- 1615 POINTSview profileRyan AndrewPresident, The Andrew Agency, Richmond, VADwelling is the building or structure you are insuring. Agents determine the dwelling value based on the cost to rebuild your home. In order to get Replacement Cost coverage you have to insure your house for 100% of the Replacement Cost (the amount it would cost the insurance company to rebuild your home.). Other lines of coverages are percentages of the dwelling value. For example, if your home is insured for $500,000 you would have 70% for contents coverage or $350,000 and 10% for other structures or $50,000.Answered on June 8, 2013flag this answer
