Most standard issue modern Homeowners' policies these days offer a very broad range of coverage for the dwelling and your personal property as well as liability protection in the event you are held legally liable for injury to another person or damage to another person't property.  It is best to talk to your insurance professional about the specific terms and conditions of your policy as well as any coverage limitations.   Two things that Homeowners Insurance consistently does not cover is damage as a result of earth movement or flood.  In many cases, earth movement coverage may be endorsed onto the policy but the only way to get coverage for Flood is by purchasing a separate Flood Insurance Policy.

A homeowner’s policy is very broad coverage.  It covers damage caused by a wide range of “perils”   It covers the residence and any out buildings, the contents of the home and provides additional coverages to take care of the extra expense of living somewhere else while the home is being repaired.  It covers the named insured for legal liability arising from property damage and personal injury.
