Great Question. Progressive as a company in most states does not offer home insurance. Insted they have a contract with other companies that offer home insurance for there auto customers. I would look at other companies that can combine your home and auto with and get a good discount for that.

That's a hard question to answer. It's kind of like asking if pickles are any good. Wouldn't want a pickle in a protein shake, but they go well on a hamburger. So here is my answer to your question. Progressive is a well run company that works in some situations. They are very flexible for extended and unusual family units, out of state drivers licenses, and sometimes difficult situations.
Progressive is not typically the least expensive in my market, nor do they always pay out the absolute most of any company on their car claims.
However, no coverage is never an option. So if you have great credit and a steady household, Progressive would not be my choice. If you have challenges in getting insurance from your independent agent, Progressive may be your best choice.
