   As long as you work with a broker who understands the process, it's very easy to switch homeowners insurance.  Remember that your mortgage company will need to be advised of this change.  Also remember that your homeowners insurance may be part of your mortgage payment, so it's important to make sure the escrow is straightened out properly.  It's also very important that you not cancel your old homeowners insurance until you have evidence of the new policy starting.
